Berry basics

What is a haskap?

Meet the honeyberry: a deep-blue, tart-sweet fruit with an elongated shape and plenty of personality.

Meet the honeyberry

A berry with its own character.

Haskap is the fruit of Lonicera caerulea, a deciduous shrub also known as honeyberry or blue honeysuckle. The berries are naturally elongated, with blue-purple skin and richly coloured flesh.

From bowl to bottle

Bright, juicy and made for the kitchen.

Flavour varies between selections, but ripe haskaps can combine berry sweetness with a lively tang. That balance makes them exciting fresh and gives them enough character for yoghurt, smoothies, baking, preserves, sauces and drinks.

In the garden

Why gardeners make room for them.

Haskaps bring early flowers, attractive foliage and an uncommon home harvest to a cool-climate garden. The shrubs are deciduous, manageable in size and rewarding to watch through the seasons.

Plant for pollination

Start with compatible partners.

Haskaps set their best fruit when genetically different plants flower together. That is why our nursery sells compatible plant packs rather than single plants. Keep the labels with your planting so each selection can be identified as it grows.
