Three to four cultivars make the right beginning.
Haskap flowers are not divided into male and female plants. Each shrub can flower, but it needs compatible pollen from a genetically different cultivar to set its best crop. For home gardens, we recommend a mix of three to four cultivars.
Flowering overlap matters.
A partner is useful when its bloom period overlaps. Our packs begin with four cultivars selected with flowering compatibility in mind, giving gardeners a clearer starting point than an unnamed single plant.
Keep partners within bee range.
Plant compatible cultivars close enough for bees and other insects to move readily between their flowers. Avoid isolating one at the far end of the garden, encourage diverse flowering plants nearby and use pesticides carefully during bloom.
Keep every label.
Labels tell you which cultivars are flowering, which combinations set fruit and how each plant performs. For a larger planting, map the rows and repeat compatible groups through the orchard.
Choose a pack that fits your space.
The Pollination Starter is the smallest compatible group, with four plants in four cultivars. Larger packs repeat the cultivar mix to build a more substantial garden row or orchard.
