An Australian crop joined a global conversation.
In 2020, the Haskaps of Oz project was invited into an online conference hosted by the Russian Haskap Growers Association. The warm-climate growing work attracted interest because it added an Australian perspective to a crop better known in colder regions.
Demand can reach beyond fresh fruit.
A later South Korean enquiry sought fruit and juice concentrate at a scale far beyond the available crop. We could not supply it then, but the conversation highlighted the breadth of international interest and the value of building reliable Australian production.
Flavour opens many product paths.
Haskaps have already inspired jams, sorbets, ice-cream, chocolates, marinades, liqueurs and gin infusions. Compote and liqueur made from Tasmanian-grown fruit also earned gold recognition at the Royal Hobart Show’s Fine Foods Awards.
Our vision is commercial and long term.
At Yeowarra, we are investing in plants, genetics and growing knowledge with a clear goal: flavourful, juicy Australian berries that can support fresh-market fruit and exciting consumer products. Nursery sales are the first step in that wider journey.
